Orange Models gives you ideas on how to combine the pleasure of film evenings with improving your knowledge of the lives of great creators. Here are 3 films and 2 documentaries!

1 – Coco Before Chanel (directed by Anne Fontaine, 2009)

The film reveals the life of Gabrielle (Coco) Chanel played by Audrey Tautou before the great rise of her fashion house. Abandoned by her father with her sister, she works as a seamstress by day and a cabaret dancer by night. One day, the two sisters are spotted by two rich men. They get them out of their precarious condition. But Gabrielle quickly gets tired of this way of life. Reckless, deeply ambitious and courageous, she will eventually come back to Paris. She creates her fashion house, encouraged by Arthur Capel, a wealthy self-made man with whom she will live a love story.

2- Yves Saint Laurent (directed by Bertrand Bonello, 2014)

This film unveils Gaspard Ulliel as Yves Saint Laurent. This brilliant actor unfortunately passed away on January 2022.

The film deals with the glory years of the designer, between 1967 and 1976. At that time, the brand is a reference in the world of haute couture and the fight rages to stay in first place. We discover in Yves Saint Laurent an exceptional sensitivity. Also he has an infinite creativity and his companion Pierre Bergé is an outstanding businessman. Consequently, more than the story of a brand, it is the story of a couple with immense ambitions.

3- House Of Gucci (by Ridley Scott, 2021)

This film features an exceptional cast with Lady Gaga, Adam Driver and Al Pacino among others. The plot centers around the private affairs of the Gucci family after the marriage of one of the members with Patrizia Reggiani. Shenanigans, manipulations, schemes, revenge and murder, the recipe is explosive. We don’t go into details about the secrets of the creation of the house but the film has some length, and it was generally well received by the critics.

4- Dior and I (directed by Frédéric Tcheng,2015)

From 2012 to 2015, Raf Simons was creative director of Dior. This documentary goes into the intimacy of the house to which Simons tried to give a new life and energy after the departure of the previous artistic director.
