Travelling Essentials: Model Edition

When entering the modelling industry, many have to consider and experience frequent travelling. Some varieties of modelling might flourish in bigger markets around the world, where prospects for growth and success are much greater than locally, which, in turn, requires some relocation.

Models routinely find themselves taking a quick flight to intriguing photo-shooting locations. Most models have mastered the art of rapidly and efficiently packing some trip essentials because they occasionally need to be done at the last minute.

While travelling can be enjoyable, doing it frequently for work can quickly become stressful and exhausting. To make things a little less tiresome, here are some helpful travelling essentials for models to consider when packing!

  • Face Mask. Masks are a must when flying, regardless of airline regulations. It’s a smart approach to reduce the possibility of spreading any kind of infection and becoming sick just before a modelling gig is definitely not ideal.

  • Hand Sanitizer and Antibacterial Wipes. Two other ways to avoid germs when travelling in addition to regularly washing hands. Bringing along hand cream is also advisable in order to keep them moisturized.

  • Modelling Portfolio. The most efficient tool to showcase relevant modelling experience. It should certainly be taken to all casting calls and interviews.

  • Extra Clothing/Layers. It’s a sensible move to pack enough layers, such as fluffy socks, to stay warm on flights because they can get quite chilly. It’s also a good idea to have a spare set of clothes with you so you can change when you get to your destination.

  • Toiletries (e.g., Deodorant, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Lip balm, Skincare including make-up and SPF). Another great way to keep fresh!

  • Eye Mask, Ear Plugs and a Neck Pillow. A few items to make it easier to unwind and rest well while travelling.

  • Water and Healthy Snacks. On longer trips, these might be offered, but it’s always convenient to have them on you. Just make sure you’re allowed to bring them.

  • Pen and Notebook.  It’s a great choice to keep a journal, which is something that many top models appreciate doing. You can also use it to include important things to remember for future schedule(s).

  • A Book. It can be therapeutic and an excellent way to recharge the mind healthier when limiting screen time and spending the flight reading.

  • Portable Charger. Just in case you run out of battery and need that extra power!
